Reflecting nine decades of iconic art

REFLECTIONS, a proposal for an exhibition marking ICA Boston's 90th anniversary that reunites and interprets iconic works that have defined the museum’s interiors, needed a visual identity that was both timeless and versatile enough for the job.

The REFLECTIONS concept responds to ICA’s glass architecture and waterfront setting while inviting visitors to reflect on the historical, emotional, and material trajectories of works that have shaped the museum’s interiors over time.

Drawing from this central idea, the number 90 has been designed to act as a portal, allowing light, color, images, and memory to pass through - video, simple color gradients, and artwork from past ICA exhibits being a few examples.

A detailed proposal document was submitted, describing the creative, interpretive, and experiential intent behind the concept.
